Her father was businessman Joseph Anthony Germanotta Jr. Director of an Internet-based network company. Her childhood was in the elite Upper East Side of Manhattan within the midst of a Catholic family. To avoid this, her parents enrolled at the Convent of the Sacred Heart the most prestigious religious school. The music was her love throughout her early years. She began playing the piano as a child. After the age of 13 she penned her first piece. She took part in open mic nights. She was a big fan of the Queen Michael Jackson, Madonna and David Bowie. She studied music at New York University Tisch School of Art after completing her secondary schooling. However, she didn't finish her studies, and she canceled them and began her career as a musician.
